This page is for information about using Vitamin C and a vitamin supplement called NuVet Plus for your dog to prevent hip dysplaysia and many other ailments. Check out the October 2002 issue of Dog Fancy magazine where there is an article on page 21 that gives information on this subject. In tests done by Wendall O. Belfield, DVM, it was shown that Vitamin C prevented hip dysplasia and many other ailments. Vitamin C has superior antioxidant qualities that will keep your dog healthy and active even after it's old and grey. A dog needs vitamin C to produce collagen for their joints to lubricate them. The dog's body does produce some vitamin C, but not nearly enough. Dogs and wolves in the wild got natural forms of vitamin C in their diet by eating fruits, berries and vegetables. Since hardly any dog food manufacturers put vitamin C in dog food, the dog has to get it from an outside source. That's where humans come into play.

If you want your dog to be healthy and stay young longer, you need to supplement it with a form of Vitamin C called Ester C. Ester C is the best type of vitamin C to give your dog. It is very gentle on their stomachs. It is our belief that you should give your beloved pet Ester C daily to prevent a horrible crippling disease that will either take expensive surgery to correct or will eventually take their life. We give each of our puppies 500 mg. once daily until they are 4 months of age. Adult dogs receive 1000 mg. each once daily.
